About Newlyn - a Cornish fishing port
The fishing port of Newlyn is located on the coast of West Cornwall, 10 minutes from Penzance and on the other side sits the popular village of Mousehole.
West Cornwall brings a myriad of outdoor opportunity, coastal walks, golden sandy beaches and moorland roaming. Newlyn is conveniently located 10 minutes from Penzance mainline train station bringing travelers from London and afar. A bus service connects Penzance to Mousehole through Newlyn around the lovely coastal path. Local pubs and restaurants in Newlyn are popular with serving up the local catch of the day, as well as the famous Meadery serving the Cornish honeymoon drink, Mead wine.
Porthcurno and the Minnack Theatre are within a 15 minute drive and Land's End is an all year round popular place for visitors. There is plenty to do including visiting the outdoor swimming pool in a walkable distance, as well as fishing, dolphin, whale and bird watching excursions from the harbour. Jet ski hire and boat hire is also available. There are horse riding centres within 10 miles offering beach rides or moorland rides by the day or hour. There are 5 golf courses in the locality from pitch and put to the discerning golfer offering beautiful scenery on links courses for all handicaps.
In the winter months although the tourists are less, local life continues and is particularly thriving around Christmas time for the special local lights and traditions.
In summer Cornwall wakes up to the tourist market and becomes a hub of activity. Newlyn is perfectly located to be on the outskirts of the main thoroughfare but close enough for getting involved.
